Using the Libraries

Registration

Students

IC students pass, issued for undergraduate and graduate students, also serve as library card.  

Research Students/ Credited Auditors

We issue your library card at the circulation counter. Please show your identification card and fill in the application form. Your library card is valid until one month before the expiration of your school register.

Faculty Members

After procedures at cataloging section of our library, we register your information and issue your library card at the service section.

Professor Emeritus/ Part-time Teachers/ Teachers at the Attached Schools/ University Staff

Registration is needed at the circulation counter. We issue your library card, which is valid until the end of the fiscal year.

Visitors

All visitors need to show identification cards and fill in the form before entrance.  If you want to borrow books, we issue your library card. Please refer to the visitors' page for details.

Entering and Leaving the Library

When entering the library, please hang your IC student card or library card over the card reader of the entrance gate. 

When exiting the library with the items, an alarm will go off if you have not complete their loan procedure. In that case, please cooperate on our inspection at the circulation counter. The alarm sometimes can go off with some smart phones, keys, rental CDs or borrowed books from other libraries.
 

Temporary Use:
If you don't have a student card or a library card, please fill in the registration form at the entrance gate (visitors will be asked to show some identification).
 

Copying Library Materials

We have a black and white copying machine on the 1st floor, and two full-colored ones on the 2nd floor. They accept coins and  bills.
Copying fee (per page): 10 yen (black and white) / 50 yen (full color)

Note:
The copying of Library materials is subject to copyright law, and must not infringe on the rights of the copyright holder. Therefore the following restrictions apply to the copying of Library materials:

  • No more than one-half of a given publication may be copied.
  • The complete text of an article or other item published in a periodical may be reproduced only after a certain time interval following its publication (typically three months after published, or after the next issue has come out).
  • Only one copy can be made per person.
  • Copying is permitted only for research purposes.
  • Regardless of profit, you must not distribute or re-copy copyright materials.

Other Policies

  • No drinking, eating or smoking inside the library: bottled drinks are allowed to bring with you, but please make sure not to take them out of your bag. Drinks which cannot be sealed are not allowed. Smoking is allowed only in the designated areas.
  • Mobile phones should be switched to silent mode, and please refrain from phone calls inside the library.
  • Library is a public space: please refrain from behaviors like speaking loudly, laying on chairs, or sitting on the floor.
  • When using Internet, please follow rules and manners and be careful of infection with computer viruses.
  • Do not use student ID cards or library cards of other person to enter the library or to borrow materials: it can cause troubles.
  • When leaving your seat temporary, take your belongings, especially valuable goods with you. Lockers with keys are available if necessary.
  • Library materials are important property of our university. Handle them with care, with no writing or cutting out, and put them back into their original place after use.
